Sharing Wisdom Wednesday: The Quiet Joy of Being One with Our Animals, Family, Friends & Community
At Three Sisters – Wild Meadow Farms, love has always been bigger than the kitchen.
It lives in the way we care for the land that feeds us, the family that stands beside us, the friends who gather around our table, and the animals who share our days. Whether it’s the soft presence of a barn cat watching the morning rise, the gentle curiosity of a farm dog hoping for a scrap of crust, or the quiet companionship of creatures who ask for nothing more than kindness—we believe animals teach us some of life’s purest lessons.
They remind us to be present.
To move slowly.
To offer trust without conditions.
To find joy in simple things—a warm sunbeam, a shared glance, a moment of stillness.
In a world that often pulls us in a hundred directions, our animals bring us back to what matters. They show us that connection is not complicated. It is built in the everyday acts of care: a bowl of fresh water, a gentle hand, a few extra minutes of attention. The same spirit that guides how we bake—patiently, intentionally, with heart—also guides how we live with the living beings around us.
Family, friends, and animals form a circle of belonging. When we treat each part of that circle with respect and tenderness, something beautiful happens. We become more grounded. More grateful. More whole.
Having a home bakery has deepened this sense of connection in ways we never expected. Working from our own kitchen keeps us rooted in the community. We know the farmers who grow our grain and raise the eggs. We meet neighbors at markets and hear their stories. Every loaf that leaves our door carries a personal handshake rather than a factory label. This closeness lets us care for the environment with intention—sourcing locally to reduce miles traveled, baking in small batches to avoid waste, and choosing methods that honor the land instead of depleting it. A home bakery isn’t just a business model. It’s a way of staying woven into the fabric of place, people, and planet.
This week we added a new family member / brother to Django. We have a new little "Truman" to our life. Everyone needs a Truman.
“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” - Anatole France
We believe true nourishment reaches beyond the table. It includes the love we give and receive from every creature who walks beside us, and the care we extend to the community and earth that sustain us all.
Feed your soul.
Come back next Wednesday for more stories from our kitchen and our hearts.
